Sleep Series No.08
Louise Skadhauge
Louise is a natural light photographer and the founder of Perssee, mindfulness retreats to experience from home that are designed to restore inner balance and live with clarity, confidence and alignment.

What is your job?
I’m a natural light photographer and founder of mindfulness brand Perssee, a platform offering alignment workshops both in English and French.
What do your nights look like and how do you wind down?
I’m early, so I go to bed around 9-9:30 pm usually.
I wind down with quality time with my fiancé at home. We cook, listen to music, chill in the living room, play sudoku and generally love watching documentaries and movies.
What is your pre-sleep routine?
I keep it super-short: a quick beauty ritual and I’m asleep within 5 minutes. There are phases where my sleep is less solid, that’s when I add our Perssee Sleep Sound in. It’s a game changer.

What keeps you awake at night?
For a quite some time now nothing has kept me up.

How do you manage to switch off from work?
I’m very passionate about the relationship I'm building with my partner. We create exciting projects together that we look forward to, we share interesting conversations and I’m also really into lots of other things other than just work. I used to never switch off, like so many of us, but I’ve learned from my past. Also, I’ve started to include a reset practice in my routine, which has had a huge impact. A reset practice is not about doing nothing, but about the intention you put into what you do, either going inwards like breathing, meditating or outwards like painting or dancing. The way you do it, and the intention you bring is the key. It was such a profound shift for me that I wanted to share my findings with others, which is why I dedicated the first The Home Retreat to this topic: Deep Reset.

What’s your favourite relaxation tip?
A Perssee Reset Sound, which is a blend of breathing, relaxation, visualisation and guided meditation. It’s so good.

What’s the first thing you do every morning?
I do my morning practice. Either turning to kundalini, or to Perssee’s morning practice. I love having this moment to myself – and honestly I’m a completely different person when I do it. Then, I usually start writing, for Perssee or for other projects.

What does self-care look like to you?
Self-care to me is my daily practice, listening to my body, lots of sleep, lymphatic massage, time with loved ones and going after what I really want in life.

Why did you decide to start Perssee?
I’ve always been super passionate about growth books and fascinated by the power of the mind. I read my first book on the topic in high school, so it used to follow me along as a big support in my endeavours. In 2019, I stumbled upon a YouTube channel that made alignment a more tangible process. I was immediately hooked. I tested it out and saw immediate results. So my passion became bigger, I was constantly researching, reading and trying new tools, until I decided to take a certification in the field and go all in. Blending all those learnings, I wanted to share a step-by-step, practical approach that works and is relatable, while adding some elegance and warmth to the creative direction.

How do you find time to balance work and inspire creativity for projects?
I find that my daily practice is also what fuels my creativity. Then I have my own balance, which changes all the time and I will immediately feel when I’m out of balance. Then I adapt.

How do you curate a calm, relaxing environment for sleep?
I’m quite intentional with the objects that I have in my home.

What does a perfect weekend morning look like to you?
Slow morning with my love, breakfast in bed, and no timely pressure.

Favourite HONNA style?
The Olive Relaxed Pyjama set. I even want to wear it as sunday homewear.
Louise wears the Relaxed Pyjama set in Green Ticking Stripe and Olive.
